Thing Twenty Three

Well I never thought I'd get here. Some of this has been really interesting and some sites have been very repetitive.
I thoroughly enjoyed Imaging, Flickr, del.icio.us, Library 2.0, iGoogle (I love my Google Homepage), The Google Products, Morning Coffee.
I didn't enjoy the video bits, the Reader (overwhelming), Firefox (I like Google), LibraryThing, YouTube ( nice to visit but a bit overwhelming)
There are several sites the Library could utilise to improve it's service. Library 2.0 allows you to be in contact with Libraries around the world. A Blog aimed at 15 to 19 year olds could be good. I have no idea how you would go about incorporating these sites into the Library but can see value in them.
I found I liked playing with the Blog, during this activity, but feel very wary of continuing it on a more personal level. I will continue to use iGoogle because I like the layout and has several Gadgets that appealed to me. I guess its similar to The Reader site but not as overwhelming.
If this type of activity came up again I would be interested because I have enjoyed learning new technology. This is what working in a Library is all about - keeping up with advancementss in the industry so long as they don't put me out of a job.

Thing Twenty two

This is the last site to be looked at, I never thought I'd get here.
I liked this site and joined so as to have a good look. I can see that Library Staff might find it very useful for communicating about new innovations from other libraries across the world. Some of the groups sounded interesting and it would be good to have a group for Australian Libraries.

Thing Twenty One

I have really enjoyed creating my iGoogle Homepage. I've personalised mine with the weather, a clock & calender and some news, jokes & Wikapedi. Finally, I added an artists theme with Leuing which looks fabulous. A lot of the sites throughout this time have been very repetitive but this is one I can say I will use lots.

Thing Twenty

I like Google Book Search and believe it would be very useful. I asked Caroline about public domain works and she suggested looking at Project Gutenberg. This looks like a wonderful site and am pleased to have found it.

Thing Nineteen

Google Doc looks very useful especially if you forget your USB and need to move a document from place to place. This gives you an extra option. I don't see a great difference between this and word. Though I confess I am running out of time to finish this week, so didn't give it the time it needed.

Thing Eighteen

Google Mapping is a very helpful tool. I've used it several times along with Google Earth. Being able to find your way between A & B without having to lug around the Street Directory is a bonus.
I've added the link to my favourites.

Thing Seventeen

I found the Library Blogs quite interesting. Having a Blog for 16 to 19 year olds could be very useful though how you would go about setting it up and then getting them to use it might prove difficult. I didn't like the MySpace site I would be worried about security. FaceBook, at least does not open up with photos and gives the feeling of security. Though it could be misleading.
